Reversible Splenial Lesions in Kawasaki Disease in a 7 Year Old Boy- First Reported Case in North America. (P6.248)

OBJECTIVE: Providing a new insight about the central nervous involvement in Kawasaki Disease BACKGROUND: Kawasaki disease is a systemic vasculitis of unknown etiology. CNS involvement is extremely rare in Kawasaki disease. We present a 7 year old boy who presented with Kawasaki disease and MRI brain revealed splenial lesions in corpus callosum which completely resolved in 1 month on repeat brain imaging. DESIGN/METHODS: Not applicable RESULTS: Not applicable CONCLUSIONS: There have been only 6 cases of reversible splenial lesions associated with KD reported so far in Japan.This is the 1st reported case in North America of reversible splenial lesions associated with Kawasaki disease and sheds new light into the pathophysiology of the disease.Our patient demonstrated complete recovery with no residual neurologic sequela.
