Electro-coagulation Treatment of Textile Dying Effluent using Iron Electrodes

2019
The present study deals with the electro-coagulation treatment (ECT) of textile dyeing effluent (TDE), using iron as a sacrificial electrode. ECT treatment of TDE was conducted in a batch reactor having a volume of 1.5 dm3 at varying pH (1.5-10), current intensity (3 A) and electrode gap 2 cm. It was observed that at the pH 10, current intensity 3 A and electrode gap 2 cm was given a maximum reduction in chemical oxygen demand (COD) of 98%. Further, the settling characteristics of obtained sludge were also presented along with pH.
