Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) resection of a right paratracheal ectopic thyroid: a case report

Intrathoracic ectopic thyroid is a rare entity accounting for less than 1% of all ectopic thyroid cases. We present a case of a 62-year-old female patient with a right paratracheal ectopic thyroid. A video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) resection of the mediastinal mass was performed. The patient was discharged on postoperative day 2 in good general condition.
