Return on Investment Tool for Assessing Safety Interventions

Summary This paper describes the process to predict and/or measure the safety and financial return-on-investment for safety interventions. The math of ROI is easy. Calculation requires technical expertise to accurately identify the benefits and the investment associated with ROI. That process is discussed and demonstrated using real data with an FAA ROI tool that is available at no charge. This paper contains one detailed ROI and data from five additional ROI calculations that show safety improvements and cost reductions.
