A novel control methods provide a novel soft rot by soft rot prevention agents. Of Erwinia carotovora no antibacterial activity, but a compound having controlling activity against fungi of the soil surface for plant cultivation of plants with a soft rot soil controlling agent, comprising the compound as an active ingredient in particular fungicides, the fungicides include any of the following compounds: strobilurin compounds such as azoxystrobin and kresoxim-methyl, azole compounds such as triflumizole, cyazofamid, indazole and flusulfamide methylsulfanyl benomyl, carboxamide compound as penthiopyrad and boscalid, sulfonamide-based compounds such as flusulfamide, organochlorine compounds such as chlorothalonil, dicarboximide compounds such as procymidone and iprodione, phenylpyrrole compound such as fludioxonil, anilinopyrimidine compounds such as mepanipyrim and guanidine-based compounds such as iminoctadine.
