A State Trajectory Control Method for Switched-Capacitor-Based Resonant Converter With the Finite State Machine Controller

2021
This paper proposes a state trajectory control method for a specific switched-capacitor-based resonant converter consisting of two half-bridge circuits with four switching devices. Compared with the traditional phase-shift control with PI controller, the proposed control method can not only ensure that the converter benefits from soft-switching operation and output voltage regulation when the output voltage is close to half of the input power supply, but achieve fast start-up without overshoots and fast load disturbance rejection. By analyzing the four switching modes of SCRC with phase-shift switching sequence, and planning the state trajectory in the two state planes, a finite state machine structure of the state trajectory control is designed. The proposed control method is verified with simulation results of a 15V, 0.75A converter.
