Bio-Inspired Optimization of Rateless Codes for Reliable Intelligent Transportation Systems

The quality of service the users of intelligent transportation systems highly depends on the methods of information processing in telecommunication networks. In particular, forward error correction codes are an important element of many telecommunication technologies. In last decade a lot of studies have been carried out and attempted to improve the performance of different codes. The study indicates that rateless codes can be used to increase the reliability of data transmission in telecommunication networks of intelligent transportation systems. In the article bio-inspired optimization method of degree distributions of rateless codes is discussed. The main stages and features of this method are presented. The simulation results approve that proposed approach significantly improves error performance of rateless codes. Due to this, the effectiveness and robustness of network-based intelligent transportation systems are increased.
