The utility model discloses an active-passive vibration damper, comprising an operating part. The operating part comprises an inner metallic framework and an outer metallic framework; an elastomer is provided between the inner metallic framework and the outer metallic framework; the inner metallic framework, the outer metallic framework and the elastomer are fixedly connected in the contacting shape. The utility model is structurally characterized in that the active-passive vibration damper also comprises a control part; the control part comprises a controller, a power amplifier and a sensor. The inner metallic framework and the outer metallic framework are magnet conducting metallic frameworks; the elastomer is a magnetic rheology elastomer. The corresponding position of the inner metallic framework and the outer metallic framework is provided with a groove; a coil winding is arranged in the groove. The input end of the controller is connected with the sensor through cables, and the output end is connected with the power amplifier and the coil winding through cables. The stiffness and the damping of the vibration damper can be regulated following the change of the drive characteristic of the vibration damping object; the vibration damper has the passive vibration damping function as well as the active vibration damping function; the vibration damper can be adapted to larger random loading change to raise the effect of vibration damping; the vibration damper is suitable to the transportation means of car, ship, aircraft, etc and various equipment needed to be provided with the vibration damper.
