INTRODUCTION: Adolescence is the stage of the life cycle in which crucial developmental changes occur, so that being a mother at this time is a big impact. According to OMS, the moment in which teenage mothers return home must have sufficient tools to provide adequate care for their baby so as to themselves. Even with these data provided by the OMS as the prenatal period is well attended during pregnancy, not the case with the postnatal period. How to educate mothers on an individual and integral is through home visits, beginning the first week of homecoming. Although it is more expensive, it has shown a number of benefits over the visit in the query. OBJECTIVE: Design a self-care program for teenage mothers and their children in the postpartum period through household visits. METHODOLOGY: In the embodiment of the present descriptive work a literature search about caring for the children of teenage mothers in the immediate postpartum period, referring to the different databases, guides and web pages are followed. CONCLUSION: There are few programs to educate adolescent postpartum women and their children. It is necessary to develop an intervention program like the one proposed.
