Catalyst for water treatment and its production

1992
PURPOSE: To obtain a catalyst with which org. chlorine compds. included in drink water or the like are efficiently decomposed in a short time by coating a base body with a carrier metal oxide having a porous structure in which platinum group metals or oxides of them are highly dispersed and deposited. CONSTITUTION: This catalyst is obtd. by coating a base body consisting of at least one of oxide-base ceramics, glass, active carbon, resin, and metal with a carrier metal oxide. This carrier has a porous structure in which at least one platinum group metal or its oxide selected from ruthenium, iridium, palladium and platinum are highly dispersed and deposited. The catalyst is obtd. by dipping the base body in a sol for impregnation in which chlorides and metal alkoxides of platinum group metals are dissolved, making a gel containing such as an inorg. polymer of platinum group metal-oxygen-carrier metal, and heating the gel in an oxidative atmosphere. Thus, the metal oxide deposited with the oxides of platinum group metal is obtd. COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
