Stabilität und Wiederablösbarkeit von Retuschen auf Gemälden: eine Betrachtung aus materialtechnischer Sicht

Deals with the workability, stability and reversibility of retouching materials used in conventional conservation practice. A description is given of historical as well as modern retouching materials. Moreover, a comprehensive introduction is given to individuate synthetic resins or polymers, such as alkyde resins, polyvinyl acetate, cyclohexanone resins, acrylic resins and aldehyde resins. The authors point out the importance of the investigation, being an almost complete overview of historical retouching materials used in easel painting restoration in Germany. However, materials which only came to use in the last 20 years are not exhaustively represented.
