Linfoot (MTEM Ltd) SUMMARY In the Multi-Transient Electromagnetic (MTEM) technique for hydrocarbon mapping a measured transient current is injected into the earth through two electrodes (the source) and the propagating disturbance is measured as the potential difference between two further electrodes (the receiver). For each source-receiver pair the MTEM technique recovers the earth’s impulse response by deconvolving the received voltage for the injected current. The impulse response may then be integrated to obtain the step response. Given
