ON CORRELATIONS IN THE DISTRIBUTION OF CASCADE PARTICLES

1957
A cascade is considered nande up of several types of particles that move in a given and ln general nonhomogeneous medium varying in time. They collide with the particles of the medium and in this process are absorbed, scattered, and generate new cascade particles. The functions are considered kmown that characterize the distribution of particles of each type acconding to coordinates and velocities, if the cascade is composed of one particle of a given type, which particle appears at a given lnstant in a given point with a given velocity. By means of these functions the probability is found of the joint presence of the given numbers of cascade particles at given instants in given regions of positions and velocity. There is also given the probabiliiy of registration of these particles by means of devices which are able to register each entrant particle with a certain probability that depends on the type and velocity of the particles and on the instant and place of its entrance into the recording apparatus.
