Title. Evaluation of Applying Time Effect on Efficacy of a Commercial (monopropylene glycol based) and Experimental (polypropylene glycol based) Caries Disclosing Dyes. Introduction.  The main goal of treating  dental caries is complete removal of caroius tissues with maximum  preservation of sound dentin, before applying an appropriate restoration. The aim of this study is  evaluation of applying time effect on efficacy of  an experimental caries detector dye ( with polypropylene glycole as the solvent) and Snoop ( with monopropylene glycole as the solvent. Materials and Methods.  in this experimental  in vitro study, 100 extracted human molars and premolars with occlusal caries, were divided into five groups. In each groups the caries were removed by conventional method (optical and tactile sence) or following caries detector dyes in 10 and 20 seconds application times. Histological assessment was used to evaluate bacterial existance after caries excavation. Results.  statistics analysisusing Fisher’s exact test revealed that there was significant difference between first group (clinical removal of caries) and the other groups (P value< 0.05) but there was no significant difference between removal of carious dentin after 10 or 20 seconds application times of the both caries disclosing dyes.  Conclusion.  using caries disclosing dyes with 10 or 20 seconds of application, improves efficacy of caries removal in comparison with conventional procedure.
