Mechanisms of resistance to cyst nematodes.

This chapter focuses on the mechanisms involved in cyst nematode resistance by addressing molecular aspects involved in basal and host-specific immune responses to cyst nematodes, evolutionary and quantitative aspects of host-specific resistance to cyst nematodes, the transcriptional reprogramming of defence gene expression upon cyst nematode infection and the induction of local and systemic hormone-mediated defence responses by cyst nematodes. A comprehensive overview of the recent advances in the molecular aspects involved in plant resistance responses to cyst nematodes is also presented.
