Robust Optimal Controller for Frequency Regulation of an Isolated Power System by using Kharitonov's Theorem

2020
Present work focused on the design of a robust optimal tilt-integral-derivative controller (TID) for frequency regulation of an isolated power system against load variation and intermittent fluctuations of RERs. Dragonfly algorithm (DA) is applied to explore the optimal gains of TID controller based on integral error criterions. To quantify the mastery of DA tuned TID controller, the obtained results are compared with the results of conventional and fractional order controllers for the similar test system. To curtail controller design effort, reduced order model (ROM) of the actual test system has been derived by using balanced truncation algorithm. Finally, robustness of the developed control system is affirmed by using Kharitonov's theorem. The simulation results depict that the proposed control system is robustly stable under the wide variation of system parameters.
