Indirect detection of WIMPs

2005
There is compelling evidence for the existence of dark matter in the Universe. One of the favourite candidates is a Weakly Interacting Massive Particle (WIMP). We will here focus on indirect ways to search for WIMPs and compare their advantages and disadvantages, the emphasis though will be on searches via neutrinos from the Earth/Sun. As a concrete WIMP example, we will focus on the neutralino that arises in supersymmetric extensions of the standard model.
