Investigation of High Directional Gain Pentagonal Shaped Patch Antenna

2020
Future communication has great impact on wireless network due to high data rate. In this paper pentagonal shaped microstrip antenna is designed. The design utilizes Gallium Arsenide having dielectric constant ( $\varepsilon\mathrm{r}$ ) of 10 and loss tangent of 0.0004 as a substrate and gold patch. The microstrip line feeding technique is used to feed the antenna and uses 50-ohm impedance matching to transfer maximum power. Further, the substrate of antenna is replaced by photonic substrate by drilling air holes to enhance its performance. Hence the radiations emitted by the patch will be increased. In addition to this radius of the bored holes on the substrate will be varied and the antenna parameters are tabulated. From the tabulation best characteristics can be achieved. This proposed patch antenna resonates at 23.68GHz. Proposed antenna has some important characteristics such as return Loss, VSWR, Gain and directivity. Computer simulation technology (CST) microwave studio suite is used to simulate this proposed pentagonal patch antenna.
