Hyperparathyroidism with avulsion of three major tendons. Report of a case.

WHEN Bogdonoff et al.1 reviewed the subject of hyperparathyroidism in 1956 they stated in a footnote that there were over 600 case reports in the literature up to that time. Since then well over 100 additional cases have been published. In a review of this literature we were unable to find a case of hyperparathyroidism in which the presenting manifestation was spontaneous separation (avulsion) of a major tendon from its insertion.
