THE INADEQUACY OF AXILLARY SAMPLING IN BREAST CANCER

1982
Abstract The extent of axillary lymph-node involvement was assessed in 50 consecutive cases of operable breast cancer by means of axillary sampling as well as complete axillary clearance in every case. Compared with complete clearance the sampling method has an error rate of 24% and is therefore unreliable in predicting nodal involvement.
