Aldosterone blockade: current research and future trends
2011
Alodosterone blocking agents have become a cornertone in the treatment of heart failure. Beaond that there are potential further indications in which aldosterone blocking may provide benefits including the treatment of (resistant) hypertension, acute coronary syndromes and atrial fibrillation. Recent drug developments include newer aldosterone antagonists such as PF-03882845 and BR-4628 as well as agents that prevent the formation of aldosterone by aldosterone synthase inhibitors such as FAD 286 and LCl699.
