Jatropha curcas Linn. Response on Nitrogen Deficiency

2015
Jatropha curcas development was intended in marginal areas. However, jatropha productivity is still low. It needs adequate nutrient to increase jatropha productivity . This research was undertaken to determine the response of Jatropha on N deficiency and selecting accessions in order Jatropha to grow well in N deficiency condition. The research was done on nutrient culture in 2011. Eleven accession from Indonesia and one accession from Thailand were observed. From the observation, Jatropha need nitrogen to grow. N deficiency reduced leaf number and plant height . N deficiency increasing root length except accessions of IP-1M, Parung Panjang 4, Banten and Lombok. Bima F, Dompu. Banten 1-3-1 and Aceh Besar had better growth in N deficiency that can be measured from the biomass weight and the root length. Keywords : Jatropha; nutrient culture; N deficiency; productivity.
