β-NMR on Solid Single Crystal Surfaces

β-NMR experiments on hyperpolarized 8Li adsorbed on the Si(111)-(7×7) and Ru(001) surfaces yield detailed information on the electronic properties of these adsorbate-surface systems. For Li adsorption on Ru(001) they are compared to ab initio all electron calculations.
