Summary According to the International Code ofBotanical Nomenclature, the varietal epithet ochraceo-albidus in Mallotus oreophilus is preempted by that of the autonym M. oreophilus var. oreophilus, typified by "Hook. et Thoms. sub. Rottl. n. 5! quoad 6." The name M. japonicus var. ochraceo-albidus (Miill.Arg.) S. M. Hwang is therefore incorrect and the varietal epithet would have to be changed to oreophilus if this taxon is accepted.
