De Bangladesh ao Sul do Brasil: dimensões da imigração contemporânea no Brasil

2019
The article analyzes an immigration of bengalis to south of Brazil. It is a recent immigration flow, but which attracts much attention of the native population due to its specificity, of being confused as indians, of having moved so far and chosen to migrate to Brazil. The research seeks to emphasize this migration as expressive of the phenomena of globalization, that is, without historical-cultural ties between the two countries. Through field research and interviews, it is concluded that they are immigrants who are fully inserted in the formal labor market, beyond the labor horizon there are no ties or processes of social integration, facing many limits, especially in the domain of language, understanding of cultural processes and sociability.
