MANUFACTURE THE PARTS BY SELECTIVE LASER MELTING AND THEIR DIMENSIONAL ACCURACY

Selective laser melting (SLM) is a Rapid Manufacturing technique in which parts of complex shape are produced by selectively melting layers of powder. During SLM, a high intensity laser beam selectively scans a powder bed according to the CAD data of the part to be produced and powder particles are completely melted. SLM is capable of producing near full density parts with an almost infinite geometric freedom. In this study, dimensional accuracy of the parts obtained by SLM is analyzed. All the experimental investigations were done on the MCP Realizer SLM 250 and it is equipment at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (Romania).
