The invention discloses a device and a method for detecting a conical forging lubricating effect in the technical field of a plastic formation technology. The device comprises an upper die fixing plate connected with a material test machine, a conical upper die fixed below the upper die fixing plate, a planar lower die corresponding to the conical upper die, two positioning rings and a lubricated sample to be detected, wherein one positioning ring is in clearance fit with the upper surface of the upper die fixing plate, and the other positioning ring is in clearance fit with the upper surface of the conical upper die; a conical cavity is formed in the middle of the bottom of the conical upper die; a through hole is formed above the conical cavity; the sample is arranged below the conical cavity and above the planar lower die. The device is very simple, convenient to mount, debug and manufacture, accurate in travel control, low in cost and good in test stability. The lubricating effect is directly evaluated by measuring the height of a conical part on the deformed sample; meanwhile, a forging forming force is obtained by virtue of a force data acquisition system of the material test machine to assist in evaluation of the lubricating effect.
