THE SHAPE OF CARS TO COME

Now that GM, Ford and Chrysler have pretty well caught up with the rest of the auto world in such matters as down-sizing, weight-shaving, front-wheel drive and assembly by robots, the emerging competition is in what used to be called styling, and is now called design and the source of this design renewal is America. This article reviews the evolution of the automobile industry, both domestic and foreign and gives an idea of what the car of tomorrow will look like.
