Seedling Medium Experiment for Five Broad-leaved Tree Species

2009
The experiments of nursery medium of five broad-leaved tree species namely Cercidiphyllum japonicum,Acer prolificum,Zelkova schneideriana,Pterocarya stenoptera and Alnus cremastogyne cv.yanshan,Cercidiphyllum japonicum, were carried out in Kunming arboretum. The experimental results showed that compared with the control(red soil as medium),tested medium formulation had different effects on the performance of seedling on height, basal diameter and crown diameter.Treatment A(red soil and microbial strain Faby of the proportion of 4 to 2) and treatment C(compound fertilizer 2kg + calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer 2kg)/100 kg red soil) can promote the growth of tested seedlings.Formulation A is the optimum medium for Cercidiphyllum japonicum,Acer prolificum,Zelkova schneideriana and Alnus cremastogyne cv.yanshan,Cercidiphyllum japonicum grew in medium A had the height, basal diameter and crown diameter 34.04 %,15.00 % and 15.38 % higher than the control respectively. And that of Acer prolificum in medium A were 70.55 %,23.81 % and 39.18 % higher than the control. The values for Zelkova schneideriana were 31.93 %,35.33 % and 33.33 % in order, and 101.65 %,38.27 % and 50.63 % respectively for Alnus cremastogyne cv.yanshan.The optimum formulation for Pterocarya stenoptera was treatment C,the seedling height, basal diameter and crown diameter were 44.30 %,23.55 % and 30.93 % higher than the control.
