Metal-free, regio- and stereoselective S-methylation/phenylation of allyl halides using sulfoxides as sulfenylating agent

Abstract A DCP promoted metal-free, regio and stereoselective S -methylation/phenylation of allyl halides using sulfoxides as sulfenylating agent is described. A variety of multifunctional allyl halides underwent S -methylation and S -phenylation by using dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and diphenyl sulfoxide (DPSO) under the reaction conditions employed to provide the resulting thioethers in good to excellent yields.
