An Investigation of The School Geographical Location, Peers Influence, Electronic Media with Absenteeism in High School

2021
The rate of school absenteeism is very high, targeting teenagers in the 14-17 age group. This study was carried out to examine the relationship between school geographical location, peers influence and electronic media with school absenteeism among students at a school in northern Peninsular Malaysia. A total of 210 respondents among secondary students (from three to five) was involved in this study. The quantitative method used in this study was through the collection of data obtained from the questionnaire distributed. Descriptive analysis, Pearson correlation analysis and regression analysis were used in this study. The findings were analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). Three aspects effecting school absenteeism among students, school geographical location, peers influence and electronic media were selected by the researchers as independent variables. While the school absenteeism among students has been made as dependent variables. The findings showed that the peer influence had the highest relationship with school absenteeism, the second factor electronic media while the third school geographical location was low on the level of relationship with school absenteeism among students. Some suggestions have been suggested by the researcher in chapter five, such as widen the scope of study, extending the time given to conduct the research and future researcher can conduct a research on others variables as a guide in the future so that this study can be further improved by the next researcher.
