Transient analysis of the queueing system with multiple nonpreemptive priority classes under the FG-BG congestion control

1993
The transient behavior of the common-store queueing system with multiple nonpreemptive priority classes under the FG-BG congestion control is generally analyzed. The authors derive the expressions for mean system occupancy, loss probability and throughput, and consider the transient behavior of system performance by using Runge-Kutta procedure together with computer simulation. It is shown that when the lowest traffic class becomes overloaded, high throughputs and low loss probabilities of higher priority classes can be maintained.
