Metal-organic frameworks

2020
Abstract This chapter introdu;ces metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) materials as a class of candidate sorbents for solid-phase extraction (SPE). The features, including high porosity, high specific surface area, and designable structure of MOFs materials make them better than conventional porous materials. MOFs materials can be used directly or after modification in SPE. Their excellent performance has already been demonstrated in a variety of SPE modes, such as micro-solid-phase extraction, solid-phase microextraction, dispersive solid-phase extraction, and magnetic solid-phase extraction. Four series of MOFs materials are commonly used in SPE as sorbent. They are isoreticular metal-organic framework series, materials of Institute Lavoisier series, zeolitic imidazolate framework series, and University of Oslo series. Characteristics of each series and application examples are showing in different sections.
