8 – Biomarker discovery

2015 
Recent advances in genomics and proteomics enable the discovery of biomarkers from high-throughput biological data at the molecular level. However, the extraction of meaningful molecular signatures of disease processes is a complicated problem, which requires the analysis of complex data sets in several phases. In this chapter, we first present a typical data analysis pipeline for biomarker discovery and then the key feature selection method is elaborated in detail. Finally, we discuss some research issues that need to be further investigated.
