A leitura no espaço escolar: O caso da biblioteca Professor Ignácio Rangel

ABSTRACT Study about the school library and its performance in the school Professor Ignacio Rangel. It emphasizes the reading applicability, as a vector added to the performance of the school library in the formation of new readers. We discuss reading conceptions and their impacts on the reading subject, highlighting the role of the librarian as mediator of reading practices. The work also highlights the need to use reading activities as tools to help in literacy and the development of reading habits in the school environment. The role of the school library and the librarian's strategies for the cognitive and social development of its users is evidenced, making an inroads into theorists who study this theme. As a methodology, we used, in this research, technical procedures based on bibliographic, documentary and field research. Field research was conducted in the library of the Professor Ignacio Rangel School, through semi-structured interviews. Reading projects are proposed to the library under study as tools to promote reading, these being: Lido Theater and Itinerant Library. It is concluded that the school library, in consonance with reading projects, contributes to the development of the motor skills of its users, also inciting the need for the librarian to perform in this space.
