Initiatives in soil education must be participatory and dynamic, evidencing soil as an essential natural resource for the existence of mankind. The objective of this work was to use pedagogical practices in higher education, aimed at soil education, in which students of the Soil and Water Conservation discipline of a Forest Engineering course participated in a thematic workshop about soil pigment, and later presented the results of the paintings in a didactic exhibition. The proposed activities aroused a greater interest from those involved in soil studies and ecotechnology. These practices represent important teaching-learning strategies in forest soil disciplines.
