Antigen Report: HLA-Aw33
1984
At the 6th Workshop Aw33 was recognized as a single antigen in spite of some evidence for the existence of two specificities: the first Fe55 is present in Caucasian populations in linkage disequilibrium with B14; the second is present in the Malay population, showing no linkage disequilibrium with B14 [3, 6]. At the Seventh Workshop a split of Aw33 was suggested: Aw33.1 (in linkage disequilibrium with B14.2 antigen) and Aw33.2 (in linkage disequilibrium with B44 and cross-reacting with A28 [2, 4]). At the Eight Workshop Aw33 was well defined and the pattern of reaction of sera did not show any splitting of the antigen.
