The Polish Experience: From Nomenklatura to Where? Occupational Trajectories of State-Socialist Managers under Conditions of Systemic Change: Poland 1988–1993

In this paper, we investigate what has been happening to the former statesocialist managers in Poland under conditions of the current systemic change. In turning our attention to the post-1989 fates of state-solicialist managers, our aim is to answer the general question of the extent to which state-socialist assets and resources undergo a conversion process into assets and resources which are effective in the emerging capitalist system. Thus, we investigate a global issue of structural transformation rather than the narrow question of what has been happening to a specific occupational category.
