Study on dynamic changes of NO and NOS in plasma of rats with experimental brain injury

Objective Determination of following experimental brain injury in plasma NO content and NOS activity, study its relationship with cerebral edema.Method Random grouping of rats , using nitrate reductase assay to determine serum NO and NOS content in, and the water content in brain tissue.The brain section were stained by NADPⅡ-d histochrmistry and Cresy 1 Violet staining.Results (1) NO content and NOS activity in the plasma rising after TBI, there were obvious differences compared with the control group (P0.05).(2) Elevated water content in brain tissue after trauma, there were significant differences compared with the control group (P0.05).(3)Histochemical study showed that expression of NOS in the region around the cortical cavity in operation group rats was much more than that in other two groups rats, so was in brain bottom. And some big nerve fibers in brain bottom were found.Conclusions NO and NOS rising in rats after TBI associate with the occurrence of brain edema
