The invention relates to a brake system 16 for a vehicle 10, in particular commercial vehicles, with a service brake device for providing a service brake function to brake the vehicle and a parking brake device 92 for providing a parking brake function independent of the service brake device. To improve the operation of the brake system in the event of a fault the vehicle in partial or complete failure of one of the two brake devices is einbremsbar automatically by means of the other braking device.
