New impact excitation method with force monitoring process for investigation of nonlinear dynamic behavior of machine tools

1988
Abstract The present paper deals with an application of the new impact excitation technique by the use of a hand-held hammer to the investigation of nonlinear dynamic behavior of machine tools. In the proposed method, a reference exciting force signal and certain permissible deviations are determined in advance, and only the excitations within the permissible range are accepted as the data to be ensemble-averaged. Experimental results show that this method is useful for the improvement of measuring accuracy of the dynamic characteristics of machine tools and will be a powerful tool for the investigation of their nonlinear behaviors in practice.
