Analysis of the Impact of Water Flow for Elevated Pile-cap Bridge Subjected to Vessel Collision

2012
This study outlines the necessity of considering the effect of the impact of water flow pressure during analyzing the elevated pile-cap bridge subjected to vessel collision, and expresses one concise fluid-structure interaction analysis methods for calculation of the water flow pressure based on Wave Theory and considering added water mass.Meanwhile, this paper briefly introduces the methods in hydraulics as well as General Code for Design of Highway Bridges and Culverts.Based on the dynamical nonlinear finite element technique, models considering the water flow influence which adopts three methods above-mentioned are built separately and compared with no water flow calculated model. Finally, the rationality and accuracy were proved for the concise fluid-structure interaction analysis methods in calculation of the water flow pressure based on Wave Theory with considering added water mass. The results show that, using this concise method will cause more bridge pier response, and it is more conservative and safer for the anti-collision design of the bridge piers or the structure safety evaluation.
