Development and spectral characterisation of discrete mode laser diodes (DMLDs) emitting at 780 nm for Rubidium atomic clocks

We present the first evaluation of newly developed DMLDs with emission around wavelength, λ = 780 nm [1] in the AlGaAs material system as optical sources in high performance Rubidium optical atomic clocks.
