The relation between configuration and visual function of macular region on exudative age-related macular degeneration

2010
Objective To investigate the relation between configuration and visual function of macular region on exudative age-related macular degeneration (AMD).Methods OCT and visual electrophysiological examination were used in 30 eyes of 15 healthy volunteers and 30 eyes of 20 exudative AMD patients.Patients with exudative AMD were divided into pre-exudative group and exudative group .Results 1.The resuits of OCT showed that, the thickness of retinal neurepithelium layer (in macular region) in the pre-exudative group was significantly thicker than that in the normal group (P<0.05); and it was also significantly thicker in the exudative group than that in the other groups (P<0.05).2.The results of visual electrophysiological examination revealed that visual function injury happened in the pre-exudative group, and it was more severe in the exudative AMD group than that in the pre-exudative group.Conelutiuns In exudative AMD,we found the damage of visual function is accompanied by the change of retinal neurepithelium layer's thickness in macular region. The functional damage of vision and the retinal neurepithelium layer's swelling in the exudative group are more serious than that in the pre-exudative group.
