Sensitivity assessment on rock desertification in Chongqing.

Land desertification was a serious problem of eco-environment. The earth's surface of limestone in Chongqing is about 32 038.14 km~2,accounting for 38.9 % of the overall land. On the bases of environmental status of karst regions in Chongqing, the rock desertification sensitivity of each districts and counties were assessed through indicators of karst landscape, vegetation coverage and gradient. The results showed that rock desertification distributes in the same regions as limestone, and according to the results, some induced reasons and the main problems of eco-environment were analyzed. Some countermeasures and proposals against land rock desertification were put forward at the end of this paper.
