The study of relationship of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α expression and clinicopathological features and proliferation in ovarian serous cystadenocarcinoma.

2009
Objective To evaluate the relationship of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α) expression and clinicopathological features and proliferation in ovarian serous cystadenocarcinoma. Methods 52 specimens were examined for the expression patterns of HIF-1α and proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) with immunohistochemistry.Correlations between HIF-1α expression and clinicopathological features and proliferation were investigate. The data were analyzed with χ2 test or Fisher's exact test. Results HIF-1α high expression rate in high grade or stages Ⅲ and Ⅳ or presence of ascites invasive ovarian cancer was 76.0%,81.3% or 87.1%,respectively,was significantly stronger compared with low grade or stages Ⅰ and Ⅱ or absence of ascites tumors,55.6%,45.0% or 33.3%,respectively(P0.05).HIF-1α high expression rate in younger or older than 50 years old was 62.1% or 69.6%,respectively,which was no significant difference in HIF-1α high expression based on age(P0.05).PCNA high expression rate was 67.6% in HIF-1α high expression, whith was significant correlation in invasive cancers(P0.01).Conclusion Our findings suggest there is significant correlation between HIF-1α expression and grade, stage, ascites and proliferation in ovarian serous cystadenocarcinoma.
