2014
Field experiment was conducted at Kittur Rani Channamma College of Horticulture, Arabhavi, Gokak Taluk, Belgaum district of Karnataka state during the rabi season of the year 2011–2012 to study the effect of organic and inorganic sources of nitrogenon growth, yield and quality of garlic (Allium sativum L.)cv. Vannur Local. Significant differences were observed among different treatments with reference to plant height, leaf length, leaf breadth, collar diameter, fresh and dry weight of garlic. However, Significant differences were also observed with reference to yield and quality parameters like weight of bulb, diameter of bulb, weight of clove and bulb yield and sulphur content of bulbs. Significantly highest bulb yield (5.36t/ha) was recorded in T8 (100% RDN through vermicompost).
