After the Order of the Book

Abstract Google’s project for a “universal library” has been received by the French authorities as a challenge that must be met. But these admittedly legitimate reactions must not make us forget that the passage from the order of the book to the digital order, which disrupts the very notions of a work, of author and reader, and of knowledge, is part of a changing world.
