The present invention discloses a fast sub-pixel edge detection and location method based on machine vision, comprising the following steps: Step 1: obtaining a detected image; Step 2: preprocessing image denoising: Step 3: Calculate the each pixel in the horizontal direction gradients Gx and Gy gradients in the vertical direction; step 4: calculate the gradient magnitude for each pixel in the gradient direction and G0 polar Gθ; step 5: determining the pixel neighborhood of each pixel; step 6: determining pixel edge points; step 7: calculated for each pixel sub-pixel level edge points 8 points on the edge gradient direction away from the pixel edge point to a point; step 8: calculate the sub-pixel edge gradient direction on the actual point Gθ from pixel edge point D; step 9: calculation cosine lookup rectangular coordinate edge points on the actual sub-pixel gradient direction Gθ table method, so as to realize the detection and positioning of image sub-pixel level edge point. Overall process high accuracy and speed.
