Eskişehir İli Seyitgazi İlçesi Yazıdere Köyündeki Eski Alevi Zaviyesi: Üryan Baba Manzumesi

Eskisehir Seyitgazi district is one of the important centers of Alevi-Bektasi culture. The territory has been the place for Kalenderi belief which was shaped around cult identities such as Seyyid Battal Gazi, Sucaeddin Veli and Uryan Baba to be transformed in to a life-style and resulted in the emergence of institutions related to this situation. The establishment site of Uryan Baba Zaviye (dervish lodge) that is one of the religious institutions under the leadership of Seyyid Battal Gazi Dergah is within the residential area of Seyitgazi Yazidere Village. In the study, first of all architectural features of structure that belong to Uryan Baba Building Complex were identified; then findings about the mentioned monuments were evaluated with a comparative method together with the other structures of the era and distinctive features of the architectural were determined in the light of data acquired. The small building complex (manzume) which is composed of pre-roomed tomb and alms house (imaret) has reached today losing its function of establishment since 16th century and serves as an interesting example for both classical and regional features of the era. In addition to this, interior decoration of the tomb which was renovated in the 19th century is important for displaying typical features of Late Ottoman hand-carve art under the influence of West.
